Local Musician To Play At River Street Jazz Cafe: Mike Mizwinski
There’s nothing better than live music, especially when the music is from a local musician! Mike Mizwinski, better known as Mike Miz, is a singer, songwriter, and guitarist from Northeast Pennsylvania known for his soulful and energetic live performances. You can catch one of his live shows on September 9th at the River Street Jazz Cafe!
Who is Mike Miz?
Mike Mizwinski was encouraged by his parents to pursue his passion for music, and began playing guitar at age 7. By age 12, Mike was writing songs.
Since his early roots, he’s gone on to perform over 200 shows a year. Mike has opened for artists such as Jason Isbell, Jakob Dylan, Lukas Nelson, Blues Traveler, Derek Trucks, America, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, The Felice Brothers, Shawn Colvin, Leon Russell, Chris Isaak, Peter Wolf, Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes, Jackie Greene, Railroad Earth, and many more. He currently resides in Nashville, TN.
Mike Miz Mentioned in Rolling Stone!
Earlier this year, Mike had the shock of having one of his songs featured in Rolling Stone magazine. His song, “Virginia” was featured in the magazine’s weekly list of best new country songs for the week.
According to the Rolling Stones write-up:
“Nashville transplant Mike Miz releases a monster of a jam-rocker that, like the Stones did decades before him, pins an irresistible melody to one of rock’s most pined-after three-syllable names. ‘Virginia’ floats along on barroom piano, snaking guitar leads, and fiery harmonies from guest Nicki Bluhm, who parries with Miz over their half-hearted relationship. ‘It’s the middle of the night, I’m peacing out,’ Miz sings to her, ‘’cause I got nothing left inside to give ya.’ He’s lying though: The Pennsylvania native has a blistering guitar solo that he’s just waiting to unleash in the song’s final minute.”
