Enjoy a Night of Live Music with Yam Yam

There are plenty of things to look forward to around this time of year – the weather is slowly starting to get warmer and the nights longer. After a long winter, spring is just around the corner. We all look forward to the plans we’ve made for the warm weather, but with the River Street Jazz Cafe, you don’t have to wait too long for plans to look forward to. We have shows most weekends, so there’s always something going on that will be sure to be a great night of friends, food, and music. On February 26th, you can come check out a performance from Yam Yam, which is sure to be an amazing show.

Yam Yam is a Harrisburg-based band that was formed in 2015. The band is made up of keyboardist Mike Dempsey, guitarist Tom Fuller, drummer Tyler Fuller, bassist Xander Moppin, and saxophonist Jason Mescia. All members have experience playing in previous bands in the Harrisburg area and formed a bond over their shared interests.

What Kind of Music Can You Expect?

Our February 26th show with Yam Yam is sure to attract a wide range of music fans. The band describes their music as being a “vibrant cross-pollinated blend of jazz, jam, funk, and soul.” To get a sense of what music you can expect to hear at their show, you can check out their several albums. Their debut, self-titled album was released in 2018, charted on the Billboard Jazz Albums section at No. 17. In 2020, they released a live album titled “The Yam Yam Telethon (The Lingerie Room Sessions),” followed by another studio album in 2021 titled “Double Dippin’,” which charted on the Billboard Contemporary Jazz Albums section at No. 9.

You may have even already seen the band perform live. Yam Yam has previously played at the River Street Jazz Cafe in the past and has traveled outside of Central and Northeastern Pennsylvania to perform. They’ve opened for many different performers in the past, including Lotus, Big Something, Here Come The Mummies, and Dopapod. They also played at two major music festivals–Peach Fest and Summer Camp Music Festival–both during the summer of 2021.

February goes by quickly, so you don’t want to wait until the last minute to see Yam Yam perform at the River Street Jazz Cafe again. Tickets for our February 26th show are $12 ahead of time and $15 if you buy them the day of. You must be 21 or over to attend. Doors will open at 8 PM, and the show starts at 9 PM.

There’s no better way to enjoy a late-winter Saturday night than by heading to the Jazz Cafe. With delicious food and live music in Plains, there’s nothing more you could ask for.
